With a little knowledge, Hotels Motels Lodging can be even more than that. They can be your little slice of heaven offering all sorts of amenities and extras. Sometimes we tend to overlook these since most of the time we are thinking about riding. We've had some of the best times when staying overnight on our tours.
The first thing you want to do when booking your Hotels Motels Lodging or Bed and Breakfasts is BOOK IT. You can always make minor adjustments to your reservations later, or cancel without losing deposits etc. When we hear of a large motorcycling event we try to book our rooms immediately. Sometimes up to a year in advance. If there are a lot of people going together we book a block of rooms and then have the individuals call up and move the rooms under their own name and credit card. Then after everyone is set, you cancel any leftover rooms.
One of the ways we enjoy a high dollar room on a budget is to make friends. By sharing a room with another couple you can tack on some nice amenities to the room. Views, Balconies, Hot Tubs, and Suites etc and then only spend half price by sharing the cost. A log cabin in the Smokey Mountains with four couples cost us $65.00 a night for the weekend. It had a pool table, living room, kitchen, TV, hot tub and a room for every couple. What more can you ask for?
Bed and Breakfasts are a great way to go, some are more motorcycle friendly then others and at all of them you'll get a great breakfast and the feeling of being home while you're out on the road is the best. Owners of the bed and breakfasts you stay at become personal tour consultants and can give you great tips when traveling the areas nearby. Our best stay was in West Glacier at the Moss Mountain Inn. Deb and Hunter Moss are the best hosts providing a perfect Bed and Breakfast in a perfect place.
Once you've booked your rooms you will want to mark your calendar of important dates like the last day to cancel, days you have planned for, etc. Make sure to have phone numbers for information and cancellation with you when you travel. Mother Nature does not always cooperate and you may have to cancel at the last minute to make a change in routing. If you use hotels, try to use the same chain of hotels in each place you stay, if you have to cancel or make a change in your route, you may be able to save yourself some cash and heartache since you are working with the same hotel. You may be able to change hotels on the same reservation eliminating any cancellation fees etc.
Make sure you ask about this and make notes in your travel itinerary so you know what to expect ahead of time. Using an internet site to book all your reservations can give you some benefits too, but make sure to ask before booking, some just act as agents and you pay for them up front and when you cancel you lose that agent fee as well as other fees from the hotel. The big thing to remember is to come up with all the possible scenarios that may come up and ask ahead of time how that will be handled. And one last thing, relax someone else is making the bed!
