Motorcycle Touring Made Easy - Header

Leaving your motorcycle tour plans with others can provide a means for others to locate you in case of an emergency.

Okay so I have to admit, making motorcycle tour plans sounds a bit simplistic. Even to the point that it sounds like something your mother would tell you when you were a child. Well it carries a lot of weight and the information can be used in many ways.

We talk about trip planning and how to create a plan so that you have all the information you need to see, visit and enjoy your trip. Why not use it to its fullest?

To look at the use of this plan for safety reasons are really very simple. Make sure to make some copies with phone numbers of the places you are staying. Leave them with someone at home or a neighbor etc. If you are making small trips out from hotels to remote areas and then returning to the hotel. Leave your information at the front desk with an estimated time that you'll return. Make sure you have the hotel's phone number.

As we've discussed before, but it can use repeating, planning can provide information for loved ones to locate you if you should not show up as expected. It can also help emergency crews locate you if there was an accident, this is especially true if you're out alone.

Your plans can include the following:

  • Daily Route Plan
  • Areas of interest that you plan to stop at.
  • Alternate routes that you may take
  • Hotels or Lodging where you plan to stop at.

Of course you can put anything in your plan that you feel is necessary it can even include medical information, location of important information, etc. Make it to suit your needs but it's a good idea to have something in place.
