The Blue Dragon - 2001 GL1800

Heading to Deals Gap Through The Tail of The Dragon

Heading to Deals Gap Through The Tail of The Dragon

We've been riding together since High School and after quite some time were able to finally purchase a nice touring bike. We figured we would go all the way and bought a brand new Gold Wing out of the create.

It was the bike of our dreams. We've been adding to it and customizing it in our own little way ever since. We named it "The Blue Dragon" and have a Dragon mascott we carry when we go touring. We also added a Bushtec Quantum GL Trailer that we fill up with all our gear including a 10 X 10 tent with a queen size air matress and sleeping bag. A mini weber grill that works and fits perfect. As of the spring of 2008 we have just over 75,000 miles on it which we put on in our travels of over 23 states.

We've been all over the east coast and have enjoyed every inch of our travels, but last year topped off all our trips by going out west on a two week adventure. We started planning our trip in October of 2006 and by February 2007 had all the routes planned, hotels and B&B booked and we were ready to go. Read about our trip here.

Just a Suggestion
by: Rod and Cathy

My wife and I used to tow a camper and still do at times but have found that staying at the KOA camping cabins is the best of both worlds. It is very resonable with the average regardless of location at about 40.00 with some just a little higher. Sometimes there are none around but when they are it is great. You have a pool every night. A fire ring and grill as well as air conditioning and heat if needed and a real cheap but good breakfast most of the time.

We've set up these pages for everyone to leave comments and provide their favorite rides and introductions etc. You can leave all sorts of information for others that you think might be of interest or value. The idea is to create a centralized place for others to come and gain knowledge about motorcycle touring and leave their experiences, so let's hear from you!
